Doom, able to move again but scarred, traces the Surfer to the Russell Glacier and makes him an offer to join forces. When the Surfer rebuffs him, Doom attacks.
The Surfer returns fire, blasting Doom through the ice, though the cosmic energy of the Surfer's blast heals Doom's body instead of killing him.
Doom returns and leverages his experience into a deal with the United States military , who have the Fantastic Four work with Doom reluctantly.
Deducing that the Surfer's board is the source of his power, Reed develops a pulse generator that will separate him from it, while Victor works on an unknown remote-like device.
In the Black Forest , Sue is confronted by the Surfer, during which he reveals he is merely a servant to the destroyer of worlds and regrets the destruction he causes.
The military opens fire on the Surfer, which distracts him and allows the four to fire the pulse, separating the Surfer from his board. The military imprisons the Surfer in Siberia , while they torture him for information.
Sue uses her powers to sneak into his cell, where she learns his master is known on his homeworld as Galactus , a massive, cloud-like cosmic entity which feeds on life-bearing planets to survive, and that the Surfer's board is a homing beacon leading Galactus to Earth.
Doom, pursuing the power in the board, steals it from the compound, using the wrist-pad device he created in secret to gain control of the board and its powers.
Doom subdues several soldiers, kills General Hager and escapes to Shanghai. During the battle, Sue is mortally wounded when Doom shoots a silver stake that penetrates her shield.
With the Surfer powerless, Johnny absorbs the combined powers of the entire team in order to battle the cosmic energy-empowered Doom.
Johnny succeeds in breaking Doom's control over the Surfer's board, while Ben Grimm uses a nearby crane to knock Doom into the harbor; however, Galactus has already arrived, and Sue dies in Reed's arms.
The Surfer regains the control of his board, and his power is restored, which he uses to revive Sue and to defend Earth, flying into Galactus with help from Johnny.
The conflict results in a massive blast of energy , engulfing Galactus in a cosmic rift, destroying it, and seemingly the Surfer as well.
Shortly after the events in Shanghai, Reed and Sue get married in Japan , only to be interrupted yet again by an alert that Venice is sinking into the sea; to Reed's delight, she has the wedding finish quickly before they race off to save the city, using the Fantasticar to draw a "4" in the sky above.
In a mid-credits scene, a shot of the Silver Surfer shows his seemingly lifeless body floating through space , until his eyes open and his board races back towards him.
Payne has also said the film takes inspiration from the Ultimate Marvel limited series Ultimate Extinction. The remake hasn't, so far.

As a long-time fan of the comic books like back when they began! The Silver Surfer shows a vulnerability and yet, an innate heroism while rejecting Dr.
Doom and protecting Sue that adds a depth to his character that humanizes him in spite of his silver coloring.
All of the 4 seem to be more comfortable with their characters, almost making you believe in the "love" between the Invisible Girl and Mr. Fantastic, and the deeper commitment of Johnny Torch is very welcome indeed.
Even more appealing is the newly-found happiness of Ben. His constant misery and self-pity in the first movie was wearing on the nerves. Sure, a little, but isn't that part of what we love about them?

Please try again later. Verified Purchase. Rise of the Silver Surfer was the second Fantastic Four release. The movie was based upon some of the most famous Marvel comics where the Silver Surfer was the herald of Galactus who ate planets to survive.
He comes to Earth to scout out its resources to see if it is suitable for his master. He runs into the Fantastic Four however who try to stop him along with Doctor Doom who wants to steal his powers.
The movie had many of the highs and lows of the first film. First for the bad. Jessica Alba was cast as Sue Storm and they bleached her hair blond for the part.
It was not a good look. A bigger failure was The Thing. He is supposed to be as huge as the Hulk. There is nothing imposing about him.
Third, there is always at least one ridiculous scene aimed at kids. This time it has Mister Fantastic going to a club for his bachelor party and using his stretching power to dance.
There were far more positives however. The effects for the team, Doctor Doom and especially the Silver Surfer were all well done.
The Surfer was all CGI and he looked great. The action sequences were all on point. The cameo by Stan Lee was really funny.
Overall, despite some flaws The Rise Of the Silver Surfer was a really enjoyable movie and showed that Marvel was going in the right direction before it started its Cinematic Universe.
The Silver Surfer has always been one of my favourite comic book characters since I was little, so I had to watch this. Disappointing is the word that comes to mind.
They twisted his powers to some bizarre reality shifting thing, decided that he was a useless weakling literally can't even break ropes or right anybody without his board, turn him into a practically brainless person who is only slightly beyond neanderthal intelligence and that somehow despite all this warping of a classic character, he has the power to single-handedly dissipate Galactus?
Beyond messing everything up, the acting is sub-par. It's no wonder that Marvel nipped this in the bud after this movie.
If you have no idea who the Silver Surfer is, then this might be fine for you to watch. If you do know who he is, then skip it. It'll just annoy you.
